Women in Refrigerators homepage

Gail Simone created the website “Women in Refrigerators” in 1999 to list examples of the superhero comic-book trope whereby female characters are injured, raped, killed, or depowered (called fridging) in order to move a male character’s story arc forward.

The website’s contributors seek to analyze why these plot devices are used disproportionately on female characters.
