“PRONOUN ENVY” POEM BY ANNE CARSON (2014)

Anne Carson is one of my favorite writers of all time, and I only recently discovered this poem of hers published in a 2014 edition of The New Yorker.

It cheekily describes an incident that took place at Harvard Divinity School and reflects upon the ridiculous binary nature of language, suggesting that it may just be time to adapt and evolve beyond such a limited system.
