LET’S TALK ABOUT WHY IT’S TIME FOR A NON-BINARY REVOLUTION
AT THE MOVIES

In a conversational style, this thinkpiece written by a nonbinary film-lover (other than me) describes the ongoing need for more nonbinary and genderqueer character representation in the movies.

It’s true that in spite of the exponential increase in conversation surrounding nonbinary identies over the last decade, along with more and more individuals (including some high-profile celebrities) identifying as such, characters that look and live like us are still pretty absent from film.

Interestingly, the article points out that as queer stories have come into the spotlight more, we really only see representation for cis queer people or trans people who inhabit the binary. The article ends with some great questions about why nonbinary representation is so lagging in media, which are really thought-provoking and worth considering.
