THE DANGER OF A SINGLE STORY
BY CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE

In her viral TED Talk, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie lays bare the consequences of a “single story” and how stereotypes can create false, incomplete narratives that further divide groups of people.

Using her own childhood as an example, Adichie explains the ways in which media, specifically Western literature, fails to accurately capture the entire picture.

Her portrayal of stereotypes’ harm prompts the viewer to dismantle their own stereotypes that have been fed by largely uninformed narratives.
